Portfolio Analysis offers a set of tools to help you understand market trends and their impact on your portfolio investments.

It includes features like Portfolio PivotDecision AnalysisPortfolio NAVRolling ReturnsValuation Trend, and Growth Trend.

Portfolio Pivot

Portfolio Pivot categorizes your portfolio based on several parameters like asset type, sector, industry, and market cap.

To categorize your portfolio stocks, select options from the Group 1 and Group 2 columns and generate reports accordingly.

For instance, to classify stocks by market cap and industry, choose those options in Groups 1 and 2, as shown below.

  • Once you generate the report, the pivot table will display data based on your selections, showing information like the invested amount and unrealized gains.

Decision Analysis

Decision Analysis gives you information on the buy, sell, and hold decisions you have made for the stocks in your portfolio.

For example, to generate a report on your buy decisions, choose ‘Buy Decision’ from the dropdown menu, as shown above. Now, pick your account and a specific year.

This report outlines your annual returns, giving you a consolidated view of the performance of your selections. Colors indicate performance: red for negative returns and green for positive returns.

This allows you to evaluate the effectiveness of your buy, hold, or sell decisions.

Portfolio NAV

Portfolio NAV calculates the net asset value of your portfolio stocks, detailing returns over one month, three months, six months, and 12 months.

You can also choose your account and a benchmark, say S&P 500, to compare your portfolio against, as shown in the image below.

It also shows the Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR %) of your portfolio.

Additionally, the Portfolio NAV feature includes a graph illustrating your portfolio’s performance against the S&P 500 or any chosen benchmark over a specified period.

For instance, you can compare your portfolio and the S&P 500 benchmark with ‘Netflix Inc’, as shown below.

You can also select other options like S&P 500's Price to Earnings ratio or EPS for a better analysis.

Rolling Returns

The Rolling Returns feature provides information on the historical performance of your portfolio. This is useful in understanding the annualized average returns over specific periods. It helps eliminate the influence of recent performance bias.

You can choose an account, an index for comparison, and the time frame for which you wish to analyze the data.

In the image shown below, we have selected an account named ‘Trendlyne’ and S&P 500 as the index for a duration of 12 months.

The generated report will give an overview of your portfolio's rolling performance. This can range across different durations such as 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, 2Y 5Y, and max, as shown below.

Valuation Trend

Valuation Trend analyzes the price-to-earnings ratio (PE) trend of your investments, indicating whether stocks are overvalued or undervalued from the date of purchase.

  • To generate this report, select your account first.

  • The resulting list will have detailed information on the valuation of your holdings, including data on 3-year, 5-year PE, and 10-year PE ratios as shown below.

Growth Trend

Growth trend analysis delivers insights into the earnings growth of your portfolio investments across different time periods.

  • Select your account and add the relevant date, as shown below, to check the growth trend of stocks in your portfolio.

  • The report generated will show you the year-on-year (YoY) performance of your stocks.

  • This feature also gives a comparative analysis of your portfolio’ performance against the S&P 500.

  • Green indicates positive returns and red indicates negative returns.
